There are many regulations the government enacts for valid purposes. Nevertheless, these same regulations can sometimes unjustly prejudice the innocent victims of injustice, and are open to being exploited by bad actors.
-
In criminal convictions, limitations on pursuing legal action against negligent lawyers were established to alleviate the burden on an overburdened court system. This can be profoundly unfair to someone who has been wrongfully convicted and there is no deterrent for unethical lawyers.
-
Similarly, restrictions on holding individual police officers accountable for misconduct or their failure to investigate a crime can inadvertently empower unscrupulous officers to weaponize their power against innocent members of the public.
-
Witnesses who commit perjury when testifying for the police often escape prosecution, which can enable prosecutorial misconduct, leading to wrongful convictions.

It is important to acknowledge that these regulations were enacted for valid reasons, and the presence of bad actors should not diminish their importance. The solution remains clear - bad actors must be held accountable.
If the government and police are unwilling to take action, then Justice Matters will.
